Extend plans
A
Annie Cates
Hello, when we are looking at opportunities we need to create draft plans for ourselves and also to present to the bank and other investors. These plans are generally 3 or 5 years, so having the Drafts as a single stand alone year is very inconvenient. The ability to extend and carry on a draft over multiple years would save having to update opening balances every time a change is made, keep opening stock numbers tidy and report GST over balance date correctly to name a few. I would not want to set this as a working plan because they are not yet the main budget. Can we please have the ability to extend a draft over multiple years?

Could we please be able to extend a Current Revised Working Plan out a further 6 months so that Tax implications in June and Final Payments for Dairy Income can flow through. Decisions could be made in Feb/March/April if the Working Plan could be extended further without having to create a complete new year of Working Plan.

Extending plans over multiple years

I want to be able to carry over livestock numbers and bank balances between years rather than having to manually enter new opening livestock numbers and bank balances for each year of a new plan. Banks requires multiple years of cashflows for proposals and this makes it easier to do. Thanks

cashflow extension

In cashmanager we could extend budget to 18 moths or more, picking up other budgets under same name (eg, main) therefore having a continuous budget which we could work on over a period of years. Then when saving it would return to financial year and update all the years budgets which have been modified. Good for repeating transactions, entering defered milk payments, seeing cashflow changes months/next finacial year to monitor OD status, doing multiple year budgets all on one page, varying inputs/output costs and predicting effects next financial year etc....

Modelling "what if" scenarios across multiple years

We are looking at leasing another property and were modelling the financials in Farm Focus as a separate plan. That is fine for the first year, but when you go to model the second year, you can't get the Year 1 closing position to automatically roll forward into Year 2, as happens with your normal working plan. It would be really helpful if plans with the same name could be set to roll forward. This is particularly the case with our business where we are an arable farm and have large portions of cash receipts from a particular harvest that are received beyond the current year balance date.

Could there be a rolling draft plan that rolls into the following year. It would be great if grazing stock coming onto farm could be recorded and then leave in the next years draft.

Copy of working plan does NOT link closing and opening bank balances between years. Hopeless!!!
This is a fundamental feature that used to exist in Cash manager. It needs to be ressurected in Farm Focus.
It is a waste of time doing forward scenario budgets if the years do not link together.
Please get this on the forward feature improvements ASAP!!

Future FY items in draft plans

It would be great if we could link draft plans in different FY's to be a continuum like the working plan.
This way we could use the feature of adding future FY items using the payment term in draft plans.

It would be good to have different draft plans that continue across financial years.

HI Tasmin,
Thank you for your feedback. The ability to link draft plans in different FY's to be a continuum, like the working plan, is in our backlog. We will advise you when its status changes. Cheers.

Jane McLennan: thats great news thanks.

Yes an 18 month working plan would be great as our balance date is 31 March and the dairy season is June to May so would make financial planning so much easier with the dairy income flowing through to the final payments.
